A voters’ ID card, unlike all the other documents, is one of the best documents that has many uses. Uttar Pradesh being an India state comes under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission of India.
The Election Commission of India is the sole authority in India that conducts and controls the elections in India. This is the same authority that issues the voters’ ID card in India. Most of the Indian citizens know the advantages of voters’ ID card. it is mandatory in India that a citizen in order to cast his/her voter during the election should possess a valid voters’ ID card issued by the Election Commission of India.
A voters’ ID card apart from granting an Indian citizen the right to vote, is also one of the most important documents that prove the cardholders identity, address, age, and above all his/her nationality. The Election Commission of India offers the natives of Uttar Pradesh to apply for a voter’s ID card through two methods.
- Offline method
- Online method.
Explaining about both the method would be childish; however, both the methods are used today, but, a majority of the people prefer using the online method as it is easy and less time-consuming.

- Applicant should be an Indian citizen
- Applicant should be 18 years old or above
- Applicant if NRI, should be able to produce a document that proves his/her Indian citizenship.
- Age Proof – Birth Certificate, Driving license, High school mark sheet, PAN card, Aadhaar letter issued by the UIDAI, and Passport.
- Address proof – Passport, Ration card, Driving license, Land phone bill, Electricity bill, Gas bill, Rent Agreement, Income tax assessment bill, letter or post delivered by the Indian postal department and Water Authority bills
Things to remember
- All the proof document files have to be scanned and uploaded to the form during the registration process. The file scanned and saved should be less than the 100Kb file size
- The fill-up form for registration will have mandatory fields to fill in; if you skip any mandatory fields the form will be rejected.
Step by step procedure to apply for voters’ ID Uttar Pradesh
Step 1: Visit official Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh or click here instead http://ceouttarpradesh.nic.in/
Step 2: On the Home screen page you will find several options, select the option “Online Services for voters” by clicking the option or click here http://www.nvsp.in/ .
Step 3: Now, on the new page, you will find the heading “National Voter’s Services Portal” and below that, you will find several options. Select the option that says “ Apply Online for registration of new voter/due to shifting for AC” or click here to skip http://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/form6
Step 4: Now, the page will display a fill-up form with the heading “Form 6”. The default medium of the form 6 will be set to Hindi; the page will have options to change the language. To change the language, click the drop-down button above the heading and select the language or click here instead for the English “form 6” http://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/form6?lang=en-GB
Step 5: Now, start filling in the form carefully with all the details as requested on the form. PS: All theasterisk (*) marked fields are mandatory, skip any of the asterisks marked field and the website will not accept your form.
Step 6: While filling in the form, remember to be careful enough to enter all the details correct as same as on the proof records.
Step 7: On the form, you will find fields that request you to upload the proof documents. At this section, the first field will be to upload “Your Photograph”, to upload the photograph, click on the “Choose File” button near and then a box pops up, now, select the photo to be uploaded (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the file destination and then, click the “open” button on the bottom of the box and the file will be uploaded instantly.
Step 8: The next field will be to upload the “Age-Proof”, now, click the button “Choose File” button near and then a box pops up, select the document required (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the file destination and click the “open” button at the bottom of the box and the file will be uploaded. Now, select the type of document that you have uploaded from drop-down menu near.
Step 9: Next, will be to upload the “Address-proof”, click the button “Choose File” button near and a box pops up, select the document required (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the file destination and click the “open” button at the bottom of the box and the file will be uploaded. Now, select the type of document that you have uploaded from drop-down menu near.
Step 10: Once, you have completed the uploading procedure; the next field will be to fill in the “declaration form”. Fill in this declaration form as requested and click the “Submit” button below.
The form, once submitted, the application processing will start within a week. Once the procedure reaches a certain percentage, the Election Commission of India will send a booth level officer to your residential address. The booth level officer will meet you in person to verify the details submitted. On successful verification, the application procedure will continue and the voters’ ID card will be delivered to your address within 30-50-days.
Check form application status online Uttar Pradesh
As I mentioned earlier, the voters’ ID card will be delivered to your address within 30-50-days of submission of the application. Meanwhile, the applicant can visit the website and track the status of the application. Here is the step by step procedure of how to check the status of your application.
Step 1: Visit the official website of “Election commission of India” or click here to go directly http://eci.nic.in/eci/eci.html
Step 2: On the Home screen of the Election Commission of India website, you can find several options arranged at the sides. On the right side, you can find the option “National Voters Service Portal”. Select this option or click the link given to skip directly to the next process http://www.nvsp.in/
Step 3: Now, the “National Voter’s Services Portal” appears on the screen and below the heading, you can find several options. Select the option that says “Track application status” or click here to go directly http://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/trackstatus
Step 4: A page with “Online Application Status” appears on the screen and a fill-up form below it, fill-up the reference ID in the form as requested and hit the “Track Status” button below it.
Now, the page will display the status of your application.
Download voters’ ID card online Uttar Pradesh
The Election Commission of India does not provide the option to download the voters’ ID card by any means. The only way to acquire a voters’ ID card is by post from the Election Commission of India. However, the only option available is to apply for a duplicate voters’ ID card online. Another method is to download and print voters’ ID card details. Here is the step by step procedure to download voters’ ID card details online.
Step 1: Visit the National Voters’ Services Portal or click here http://www.nvsp.in/
Step 2: Now, on the “National Voter’s Services Portal” home screen, you will find a heading on the right side that says “Citizen Information” and two options below it. select the option “Booth, AC, and PC”
Step 3: Now, on the fill-up form that appears on the screen fill in all the details carefully and click the “Search” button.
Now, if the entered name is added to the voters’ list, the name will be displayed on the screen. Click this name and then, press the “print” button on the down bottom of the screen and the voters’ ID card details will be downloaded and printed.
