10. Unrestrained Past of Kashi

The name of this place is stated in the Brahmanas,Upanishads, as well as in the Puranas. The word “Kashi” has been originated through the word KAS that factually means to sparkle. As per the ancient records, this temple was established in the year 1490. It has also been ruled by several kings including the Buddhists in the past. The temple was also robbed and destroyed by the Mughals. After this, the original temples were re-constructed.

The pillars are nearly 15.5 meters in height. The temple devises an internal shrine which consists of a linga prepared from the black stone located on a silver platform over the floor.
