Celina Jaitly was born in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and is of mixed ethnicity, with a Punjabi Brahmin father and Afghan Hindu mother. Her father V K Jaitly is a retired colonel who had served in the Indian Army, while her mother Meeta was a beauty queen and had served as a nurse in the Indian Army, giving her an army background with a disciplines upbringing. She was raised in different cities around the country as her father was transferred from place to place, though she spent a major part of her life in Kashmir and the North east, particularly in Kolkata. Celina had an ambition to serve the country by joining the army as a pilot or a doctor, but fate had something else in store for her and took her into the glamour world. She got engaged to an Austrian businessman, Peter Haag in 2011 and married him later that year. She was blessed with twin boys in 2012. Besides her acting skills, Celina Jaitly has been involved in a number of humanitarian projects such as speaking up for women’s and children’s rights and also supporting homosexuality in the country. Celina Jaitly started her career in modeling at the young age of 16 years. She participated the most prestigious beauty contest in the country, Femina Miss India in 2001 and won the title of Femina Miss India Universe. She then represented the country in Miss Universe contest in that year and went on to stand at the fourth position. She was then featured in a music video called “Oh Kehri” by Jazzy B. Her Bollywood debut came in 2003, with a film called “Janasheen”, in which she was cast opposite Fardeen Khan. Next came “Silsilay”, which did no wonders on the box office, but she got her first hit with “No Entry”, in which she acted with some big names in Bollywood like Anil Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Salman Khan and Bipasha Basu.
