Jeetendra hails from a Punjabi family from the holy city of Amritsar, with his parents Amarnath Kapoor and Krishna Kapoor engaged in the family business if imitation jewelry. He did his schooling from St. Sebastian Goan High School in Girgaaum, along with Rajesh Khanna, a close friend who later went on to become the super star of Bollywood. He initially supplied imitation jewelry in Hindi movies, during which he was chosen by V Shantaram to play the double of Sandhya in a film called “Navrang”, which was released in 1959. Jeetendra was paired opposite almost all the actors of the yesteryears and made hit pairs with them. During the prime of his career, he had an affair with Hema Malini and they were all set to get married at one point, when Hema backed out of the relationship. Jeetendra then went on to marry his childhood friend, Shobha Kapoor and this proved to be one of the most successful celebrity marriages in the industry. Jeetendra started his film career cast as Sandhya’s double in the 1959 movie called “Navrang”, followed by a full-fledged role in a movie called “Geet Gaya Patharon Ne”.
