India Beat Pakistan by 19 Runs to Win Asian Games 2026 Cricket Gold: Full Match Highlights

India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by 19 runs to win the men’s cricket gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 on Saturday, October 3. In a high-scoring T20 final at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Japan, the Shreyas Iyer-led Indian team produced a strong all-round performance to successfully defend the Asian Games title.

India posted an imposing 211/6 in 20 overs, powered by explosive half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma. Pakistan fought hard through a brilliant 96 from Hasan Nawaz but finished at 192/6, handing India another memorable gold medal.

India Choose to Bat First

Captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and elected to bat, putting Pakistan’s bowlers under pressure immediately.

Teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi provided an early burst, scoring 15 from nine balls, including two sixes. However, it was Abhishek Sharma who completely changed the tempo of the innings.

The left-handed opener attacked from the start and reached his half-century in only 20 balls. Abhishek eventually made 61 from 28 deliveries, smashing three fours and seven sixes at a strike rate above 217.

Pakistan did manage to fight back. Sanju Samson was dismissed for two, while captain Shreyas Iyer made 21 and Ishan Kishan contributed 20. At 133/5 during the 15th over, India needed a strong finish.

Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube Deliver the Finishing Blow

That finish came from Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube.

Tilak played a superb counter-attacking innings, remaining unbeaten on 51 from just 22 balls, with three fours and four sixes. Dube provided valuable support with 27 from 15 balls, including two fours and two sixes.

The pair added 62 runs for the sixth wicket, helping India race beyond the 200-run mark.

India eventually finished with 211/6. Pakistan’s Arafat Minhas took 2/25, while Ahmed Daniyal claimed 2/43.

Pakistan Lose Early Wickets

A target of 212 required Pakistan to produce one of their finest T20 run chases.

They started positively but soon lost wickets. Pakistan slipped to 39/3 in the seventh over, putting India firmly in control.

Then came a major fightback. Hasan Nawaz and Saim Ayub added 87 runs for the fourth wicket, bringing Pakistan back into the contest. Saim scored 29 from 22 balls, but Hasan was the real danger for India.

Hasan reached his fifty from 28 deliveries and continued attacking the Indian bowlers as the required run rate climbed.

Shivam Dube Breaks the Dangerous Partnership

With Pakistan threatening a comeback, Shreyas Iyer turned to Shivam Dube. It worked immediately.

Dube dismissed Saim Ayub with his first delivery, ending the crucial 87-run partnership and shifting the momentum back towards India.

Washington Sundar then delivered another important blow by dismissing Abdul Samad.

With Pakistan needing 52 runs from the final three overs, India remained under pressure because Hasan Nawaz was still at the crease.

Bumrah Keeps His Cool in the 19th Over

Jasprit Bumrah returned to bowl the crucial 19th over.

Although Hasan continued looking for boundaries, Bumrah conceded only 11 runs, leaving Pakistan needing an almost impossible 33 from the final over.

Dube was trusted with the last six balls. Hasan continued fighting and reached 96, but the target had moved beyond Pakistan’s reach. On the final delivery, Dube dismissed him, with Sanju Samson completing the catch behind the stumps.

Hasan’s outstanding 96 from 51 balls, containing five fours and seven sixes, therefore ended four runs short of a century.

Pakistan closed on 192/6, giving India victory by 19 runs.

India’s Bowling Heroes

India’s bowlers shared the responsibility beautifully.

  • Axar Patel: 2/29
  • Washington Sundar: 2/29
  • Shivam Dube: 2/33

Dube proved particularly valuable, contributing 27 with the bat before taking two important wickets.

India Complete Asian Games Cricket Gold Double

The victory meant India successfully defended the men’s Asian Games cricket title. It also completed a cricket gold-medal double for the country after the Indian women’s team had earlier defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs to win its event.

For India, the final had almost everything: Abhishek Sharma’s fearless hitting, Tilak Varma’s spectacular finish, Hasan Nawaz’s determined counterattack and a composed bowling effort when Pakistan threatened to chase down 212.

The final score told the story clearly: India 211/6, Pakistan 192/6 — India won by 19 runs and took home the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket gold medal.
