11 Interesting Facts About Rishikesh

It is the memorable place which fairly depicts the Indian culture and its values in the life of every Indian. The Rishikesh connects Indian with their roots and rememorize the ancient history of Indian preaching.  It is full of temples like Swargashram, Parmath Ashram and many more. Rishikeshis a pious place, which is a tehsil located in the Dehradun District, Capital of Uttarakhand. The city is situated in the direction of North India towards the foothills of the Himalayas. #1. Hrsikesa word implies the name of Lord Vishnu which has come from the word “hrsika” which means senses and “isa” means Lord, thus Lord of the Sense. There is another story attached that Raibhaiya Rishi did his tapasya, that’s why it is known as Lord Hrishikesha. It is near to Haridwar about an hour towards South, and also one of the holy cities of India.

The Mother river Ganga flows in this city, it is also said Lord Rama did penance in this city for killing Ravana, whereas Lakhsman, theYounger brother of Lord Rama crossed the river Ganges, and that is why LakshmanJhula is standing using a jute rope bridge. That bridge was replaced in 1889 by iron-rope suspension.

#3. Another moving bridge is Ram- Jhula, the building year is 1986 which is nearby Sivananda Nagar and Shatrughna Mandir, Bharat Mandir and LakshmanMandir is nearby LakshmanJhula. The main season for river rafting starts from March which will ends in the month of September. Rishikesh is loved by the persons, who like backpacking, bungee jumping, hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, rock climbing,rappelling and zip lining.

The rafting camps are needed to stop as it is the leading factor of the pollution of Ganga, as it discharges effluent, and people throw waste which is disturbing the ecological environment of Rishikesh. When the rafting camps are established on the sites, they are temporary and beautiful, so the places will also lack in sanitation and sewage facility. It is also a disturbing factor for the animal husbandry available, destroying the peace and serenity of the place of pilgrims.
