Ileana D’Cruz is originally from Mumbai though she spent a part of her young days in Goa too as the family moved there when she was just 10 years old. Her mother worked in a hotel and a manager there suggested that Ileana had what it takes to enter the modeling industry. He set up a meet for her with model Marc Robinson and this is how a modeling career stared for Ileana D’Cruz in 2003. She started doing ramp shows as well as photo shoots and landed campaigns with some well known brands like Emami Talc, Electrolux and Fair & Lovely.
Soon she made a name for herself in the modeling industry and this set her up for a successful career in films too. She has also modeled in a campaign for PETA for animal rights.
Professional Career
After becoming a well known face in the modeling industry, Ileana D’Cruz stepped into a full-fledged film career in 2006 with a Telugu movie film called “Devadasu”, which was a huge commercial success and also fetched her Film fare Award for Best Debut- South. After this she worked in a number of hit Telugu and Tamil movies, with the likes of “Pokiri”, “Jalsa”, “Julayi”, “Kedi”, “Nanban” and “Kick”. A new phase in her career started when Illeana worked in the Hindi movie called “Barfi” in 2012, which co starred her with big time Bollywood actors, Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Despite the presence of these stars, Ileana D’Cruz got appreciation for her performance in the movie and also earned the most well deserved Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She also won a number of other awards during her short but illustrious career like South Scope Style Awards and Best Actress at the Santosham Film Awards, in addition to Fresh Face Award at the Vogue Beauty Awards and an ETC Bollywood Business Award.
