A voters’ ID card is an important document that grants the cardholder the right to vote. According to the Indian constitution, every Indian citizen of an age of 18-years and above 18-years has the right to vote to elect their representatives.
In India, the elections are controlled and conducted by the Election Commission of India. This same authority issues the voters’ ID card in Nagaland.
With all these being told, here is something else you should know about, the voters’ ID card apart from being a card that grants the cardholders the right to vote, it also acts as a proof of identity, address, age, and nationality. Most of the Indian institutions both private and public accept the voters’ ID as a proof document. Today, there are only two methods that could be used to apply for a fresh voters’ ID card in Nagaland

- Scanned copy of the applicant’s Passport size photo
- Scanned copy of Age proof
- Scanned copy of Address proof
- Age Proof – Birth Certificate, Driving license, High school mark sheet, PAN card, Aadhaar letter issued by the UIDAI, andPassport.
- Address proof – Passport, Ration card, Driving license, Land phone bill, Electricity bill, Gas bill, Rent Agreement, Income tax assessment bill, letter or post delivered by the Indian postal department and Water Authority bills
Procedure for applying voters’ ID in Nagaland
Step 1: First,visit official Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland or click here instead http://ceonagaland.nic.in/
Step 2: On the Home screen, select the option “National Voters’ Services Portal”, click here to skip http://www.nvsp.in/
Step 3: Now, the “National Voter’s Services Portal” website will appear on the screen. Select the option “ Apply Online for registration of new voter/due to shifting for AC” or click here http://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/form6
Step 4: A fill-up form with heading “Form 6” will be displayed on the screen. The default form language will be set in Hindi; you can change the language. To change the language click the drop-down button above the heading or Click here for the English http://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/form6?lang=en-GB
Step 5: Now, start filling in the form, you will notice the asterisk (*) marked fields. These fields are mandatory and you cannot skip these fields. If you skip the mandatory fields the website will not accept your form.
Step 6: Be careful that all the details are as per records. PS: enter all the details as per official records and proofs.
Step 7: While filling in the form you will find the fields to upload the proof documents. The first field will be to upload “Your Photograph”, to upload, click the “Choose File” button and select the photo (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the file destination and then click the “open” button, the file will be uploaded instantly.
Step 8: The next field will be to upload the “Age-Proof”, to upload; click the button “Choose File” and select the document (jpg, png, bmp, and jpeg) from the file destination and click the “open” button, the file will be uploaded. Now, select the type of document uploaded from drop-down menu near.
Step 9: The last field will be to upload the “Address-proof”, to upload, click the button “Choose File”, select the document to upload (jpg, png, bmp, jpeg) from the destination and then click the “open” button, the file will be uploaded. Now, select the type of document uploaded from drop-down menu near.
Step 10: Once, you have successfully completed uploading the proof documents, fill in the last section “declaration form” and hit the “Submit” button.
Now, the page will display an acknowledgment form on the screen with a reference ID. Save this reference number for future use.
The application will be processed and the voters’ ID will be delivered to the applicant’s address within a month, but, before processing, a Booth Level officer will verify the details submitted on the form by visiting you in person. On successful verification, the voters’ ID will be delivered to your address. Now, the reference number can be used to track the status of your application.
Procedure to check the from application status Nagaland
Currently, the CEO Nagaland official website does not provide any option to check the status if the form application online. However, the National voters’ services portal has the option that enables the user to check the form application status online. Below mentioned steps explain the whole procedure.
Step 1: Visit the official NVSP official website, from the Home screen select the option “Citizen Services/Online Registration” or click here to skip directlyhttp://www.nvsp.in/
Step 2: A new page appears with a heading “National Voter’s Services Portal” Select the option “ Track application status” or click here to skip http://www.nvsp.in/Forms/Forms/trackstatus
Step 3: “Online Application Status” fill-up form appears on the screen with a single field fill-up form below it. Enter the “Reference ID” as requested.
Step 4: Hit the “Track Status” button below.
Now, if the reference ID matches the server records, the page will display the status of the application.
Procedure to download voters ID online
The Election Commission of India does not provide any option to the user to download voters’ ID card online. The only way to get a voters’ ID card is by post from the Election Commission of India. However, the voters’ ID card details can be acquired from the voters’ list using the method mentioned below.
Step 1: Visit the official NVSP official website, from the Home screen select the option “Citizen Services/Online Registration” or click here to skip directly http://www.nvsp.in/
Step 2: On this page, select the “Booth, AC, and PC” option or click here instead http://electoralsearch.in/
Step 3: Now, on the page that appears with heading “Search by Details” and “Search by EPIC No”, select one of the options and then fill in the form that appears with all the requested details.
Step 4: Hit the “Search” button and the page will now display the voter ID information on the screen if the name is added to the voter’s list and an option on the bottom to “Print Voter Information” click this option to print or download the info.
