Priyamani currently lives Bangalore though the place of her birth is Palakkad in Kerala. She comes from a Tamil Iyer family, with her father Vasudeva Mani Iyer being in plantation business and her mother Latha Mani Iyer being a former national level badminton player. Priyamani is related to the well known actress Vidya Balan, who is her cousin. Kamala Kailas, the famous Carnatic vocalist is her grandmother. She was a bright student and participated in several extracurricular activities too. The actress did some modeling assignments during her school days, following which she was picked up by the renowned Tamil director Bharathiraja for a movie and there was no looking back for her after that. Priyamani is actively involved in PETA campaigns for animal rights.
Priyamani began her career in 2003 with a Tamil film called “Kangalal Kaithu Sei” which was not a big success and later she started doing some Telugu and Malayalam movies.
