Kunal Kapoor was born in Mumbai and he hails from a Punjabi family, which traces its roots in the holy city of Amritsar. This young man started off as an assistant director, but soon his abilities brought offers for acting and he became a part of the industry. He has recently been married into an influential film family, with his wife Naina being Amitabh Bachchan’s neice. Kunal lives a lavish lifestyle and owns a Mahindra Renault car. Besides his film career and brand endorsements, Kunal has been acclaimed for his humanitarian efforts too and is a part of the charity organization called “Save the Children”, which is also supported by the international celebrity, Gwyneth Paltrow. Kunal received acting training from Barry John, flowing which he joined a theater group run by actor Naseeruddin Shah, under the name of “Motley”. Then he stepped into Bollywood as an assistant director in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer film “Aks” in 2001. His film debut came in 2005 as the lead actor in the M F Hussain venture “Meenaxi: A Tale of Three Cities”, in which he was cast opposite actress Tabu. He received recognition with the 2006 movie called “Rang De Basanti”, which had Aamir Khan as the lead actor. The film received great laurels such as nomination for Best Foreign Film at BAFTA Awards 2007, along with a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor nomination for Kunal. After the success of “Rang De Basanti”, Kunal was signed by the prestigious banner Yash Raj Films for three of their films, “Laaga Chunari Mein Daag”, “Aaja Nachle” and “Bachna Ae Haseeno”, all of which brought great appreciation for him. After a short break of two years, Kunal came back to Bollywood with an impressive performance in a Kashmir based film called “Lamha”, followed by another power packed role in “Don 2” in 2011.
