IPL is based on T20 format and in T20 format, the main advantage to the team is that the overs are limited and the number of wickets is same as in One Day International. This enables the teams to showcase an aggressive game. There is no room for defense shots and the batsmen strive for boundaries on every ball. Every batsman strives for a century as well. Scoring a century in a limited over match is definitely a big achievement.

T20 cricket also witnesses a lot of records and in this article, we have compiled the list of Top 10 Batsmen with Fastest Centuries Innings in the history of IPL.

10. Virendra Sehwag

On 10thrank, we have Virendra Sehwag. He scored a century in just 48 balls. The match was between Delhi Daredevils and Deccan Chargers and it was played on 5 May 2011. In the match, a total score of Sehwag was 119. Virendra was one of the most aggressive batsmen in Indian Cricket team. He believed in boundaries more than he believed in footwork. Even though he took retirement years ago, his score still remains to be invincible.

Without the name of Virat, the list can’t be complete. Virat Kohli scored a 100 in just 47 balls with 8 sixes and 12 fours. In the match, he scored a total of 113 runs. Virat Kohli was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore during that time and he was playing against Kings XI Punjab. The match was played on 18 May 2016. Virat surely deserves to be on the list as he is also considered to be a run machine.

8. Andrew Symonds

We also have Andrew Symonds on the list and he also scored a 100 in 47 balls. In the match, he scored a total of 117 runs with help of 7 sixes and 11 fours. Andrew was playing for Deccan Chargers and he was playing against Rajasthan Royals in that match. The match was held on 24 April 2008. At present, Andrew took retirement for International cricket as well as IPL. He had also been involved in certain controversies relating to racism.

Murali Vijay made a place for himself in the list by scored 100 runs in just 46 balls. He scored 11 sixes and 8 fours in the match to reach the score of 127. As per the information, the match was held between Chennai super kings and Rajasthan Royals and Murali was playing for Chennai Super Kings. He also plays for the domestic team of Tamil Nadu and at present, he is associated with Kings XI Punjab.

6. Sanath Jayasuriya

On number 6 we have Sanath Jayasuriya from Sri Lanka and he scored 100 in just 45 balls. Sanath scored 11 sixes and 9 fours in the match to reach the score of 100. In total, he scored 114 in the match. The match was held between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings and Sanath was playing for the team of Mumbai Indians. As per the records, the match was played on 14 May 2008.

5. Ab de Villiers

De Villiers is a South African player and he ranks at number 5 on our list. He has two records of fastest hundred. In one match, he scored 100 in 47 balls and in the other match, he scored 100 in just 43 matches. During both the matches, he was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore and one of the matches was played against Mumbai Indians whereas the second match was played against Gujarat Lions.

4. Adam Gilchrist

On the fourth rank, we have former Australian Cricketer, Adam Gilchrist. Adam scored 100 in just 42 balls and during the match, he scored 10 sixes and 9 fours to reach a score of 109. Adam was playing for Deccan Chargers in that match and he gave this amazing performance in the match against Mumbai Indians. The match was played during the first season of the IPL.

David Miller is a South African batsman and he is on thethird position on our list. He scored a 100 in 38 balls with 7 sixes and 8 fours in the inning. His total score during the match was 101. David was playing for Kings XI Punjab and he played the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

We have another Indian Player on the list and that is Yusuf Pathan. He scored a century in just 37 balls with 8 sixes and 9 fours in the inning. Yusuf was playing for Rajasthan Royals and he was playing against Mumbai Indians. The match was held in Brabourne Stadium on 13 March 2010.

Chris Gayle requires a special mention in our article as he has his name on the list for three times. During one of the match in April 2013, he scored a 10 in 30 balls and he was playing against Pune Warrior Indians. In the match, he scored a total of 175 runs. On second and third instance, he scored 100 in 46 balls and both the matches were played against Kings XI Punjab. In one of the match he scored a total of 117 runs and in second match he scored a total of 107 runs.
